Iluminado

The shared philosophy behind all our Vinos de La Luz wines is linked to height above sea level and the fact that the vineyards in which the grapes grow are closer to the light of the sun. The total production of Iluminado Vinos de La Luz in each country is 3500 numbered bottles and each wine is a single-variety obtained from the grapes grown on our historic vineyards in the most outstanding winegrowing regions: Ribera del Duero, Peñafiel – Spain; Valle de Uco, Mendoza – Argentina; and Tuscany, Siena – Italy.

Iluminado Vinos de La Luz has been dreamt up and created to have a long life that will always outlive its designers.

Uco Valley

These Malbec grapes, grown in Altamira, are made into wine after they have macerated for a long time to keep the maximum integrity of the fruit. During fermentation, the temperature is kept below 28°C. The wine matures in 160-litre French-oak barrels for 12 months and is laid down for another 12 months before it reaches consumers. The vineyards that grow the grapes for this wine were planted by immigrants who came to Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century.

In the Uco Valley, in the province of Mendoza, the vineyards are grown using the traditional Guyot method and flourish in alluvial soils at 1100 metres above sea level as they look upon the Andes.

Tempranillo is a very old variety grown by the Iberian people before the peninsular was colonised by the Roman Empire; it has grown in this area for over 2000 years.

Tuscany

At the bottom of Monte Amiata, at 420 metros above sea level, the Sangiovese grapes are grown for Iluminado Vinos de La Luz. The unharnessed, rocky soils furnish the identity and tradition of Montalcino, the most beautiful valley in Tuscany.
