The origins of the Fern\u00e1ndez N\u00fa\u00f1ez family’s winemaking tradition date back to the early 20th century, when, in 1910, Galician emigrants Seraf\u00edn Fern\u00e1ndez and Mar\u00eda N\u00fa\u00f1ez left for Argentina in search of work. There, they contributed their expertise as day labourers in planting, pruning and harvesting, skills they had learned in their native Spain. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Seraf\u00edn and Mar\u00eda arrived in Mendoza in response to a call from the government for settlers to occupy the foothills of the Andes Mountains for agriculture. It was already the Uco Valley, where the origins of Vinos de La Luz<\/strong> were first planted. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The characteristics of the soil and experiences, not always favourable,
forced Seraf\u00edn to avoid bush vines and opt for trellises and espaliers. Thirty years passed between the first vines and the construction of the first reinforced concrete winery in the Uco Valley. Today it is the La Luz del Vino<\/strong> winery. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Fern\u00e1ndez N\u00fa\u00f1ez immigrants wanted a generation of their descendants to attend university. They had another dream: to have a family of professionals, something they had not been able to achieve in their own lives. The training of the third generation coincided with the 1980s and 1990s, which revolutionised agriculture and the wine industry in Argentina. The experience of studying in France and Italy and contact with Spanish wineries laid the foundations for planting the seed of a future in Europe.<\/strong> <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTowards the end of the 1980s, with the fall of the Berlin Wall, Ricardo Fern\u00e1ndez N\u00fa\u00f1ez, who had trained abroad, took charge of the winery and began to expand production capacity for a European market that would grow to become the European Union.\nSince then, La Luz<\/strong> has produced wines in what would become the four geographical indications where it is now based: Gualtallary, Paraje Altamira<\/strong>, Vista Flores<\/strong> and Pampa El Cepillo<\/strong>. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La Luz chooses Ribera del Duero<\/strong> to establish its first winery, La Luz del Duero<\/strong>, in Europe.
